Filipino Time

Nainggit ako kay Mark at sa kanyang project kaya gumawa ako ng akin. Hehehehehe!

A Taste of Government Service

How could have Quezon City won the award for best city when it is clearly Marikina who has more structure in terms of government services? I've been to both city halls in a span of less than a week. I got my Community Tax Certificate in Marikina and applied for my Marriage License in Quezon City.

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at how Marikina handles their clientele. Parking was not a problem ,their city hall was very well lighted and organized, and to top it all off, their people are very accomodating and warm.

A far cry from my Quezon City experience, with inadequate parking spaces, poor office lay-out, and cold and impersonal people.

Just when you're about to lose hope, something magical happens that you can't help but be amazed.

Yesterday's trip to Batangas brought a speck of light to my quest on getting a confirmation certificate. I told my tita about the whole thing of the church not having a record of me and she said that she'll talk to some of her friends there to see what she can do. But then again, she said, if worse comes to worse, she knows the archbishop in Lipa and she can arrange for my second confirmation.

Argh! I hate to admit it but she's right. It's either that or the one Jojo suggested, which is "photoshopping" the document.

The last thing she told me was to pray to St. Anthony. He may just be able to help.

OK. Fine. Pray to Saint Anthony. I mean, what harm could that do, right?

So in the 7:00 mass in De La Strada, I prayed to him.

I said something like this: "Look, St. Anthony, I honestly do not know you. Sorry about that. But they told me that you're great in finding stuff. Maybe you could help me with my confirmation certificate. If it's OK with you, of course."

This morning, when I was about to leave for work, I saw something hidden in the second drawer in my closet - my photo albums! I didn't see them the first time I pulled out all the albums from the top closet. Yeba! As I was in a hurry, I didn't have the time to browse through these, but I have this feeling that the pictures of my confirmation can be found in one of them.

Hanep ba sa testimonial? Now I can't wait to go back home and see for myself!

I almost have all the required documents except for my certificate of confirmation. The office of our parish claims they don't have my name in their list. This was because several years ago, the rectory, offices and a small part of the church of the Immaculate Concepcion in Batangas City was burned to the ground along with a good number of its records.

We're now searching over my photo albums looking for proof that I was truly confirmed in that church with my Tita Carme and Tito Wig as sponsors. At least with this, we have proof to show the manangs that the whole thing truly happened.

One option they're telling me is to have myself confirmed again. They're saying maybe I could do that when I visit Batangas this Sunday for the Fiesta. I don't know about that. It's a sacrament and should be considered holy. In my opinion, you don't do it again just to get a lousy certificate. There has to be another way.

I was browsing through Emer's blog when I chanced upon this! It made our day! Thanks Emer!

I'm waiting for the courier from here to pick up my old passport. During lunch break, I'm planning to pay for my birth certificate request from these guys in the Timog Avenue UnionBank branch. When all of these are through, I'm going to fill out this form to apply for a visa.

Finally, I'm seeing the true beauty of the internet. Even our government is slowly realizing the potential. Now if only the DTI would do the same with their sales promo approval system.

Happy New Year!

So finally the big year has arrived. It's the year I'm getting married.

We're shifting the preparations into top gear as we only have a few months to go before the big day.

The measurement for the gowns in on January 8, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in Veluz Reyes' place near Congressional Avenue in Project 8, Quezon City. I already contacted April and Gabby and told them the details.

On the 11th, we'll be meeting with Balay Kandila for the details on the designs for the venue. The lights people will also be joining us along with the wedding coordinator.

I am also closing the deal with the band this week. Finally.

I just emailed charo the guest list and pruned it as much as I can.

As I was surfing on the web looking for information on applying for a US Visa and online requests for birth certificates, I discovered that my passport is about to expire on June 7 of this year. Hence, it's also due for a renewal.

The silver lining on this dark cloud is how easy it is to have it processed. Gone are the days when you have to line-up in the DFA. Now you can either go online or call to these documents picked up and have them delivered to you in about a week.

So I'm scheduling myself for a photo shoot tomorrow at Kodak in 9501 for my passport renewal and US Visa application. Note to self: kailangang magpapogi.

Whew!
