You don't know what you've got til it's gone. The new batch of tech boys today is a far cry from Mike's time. Before, when something happens to my PC, you just tell them the problem and it'll be fixed the following day. Nowadays, it's different.

When I came in the office last Tuesday, I found out that the new tech boys had just reformatted my PC over the weekend without even informing me. They didn't leave any notes about it on my desk. I just discovered the whole thing when I booted it up and discovered that it now runs on Windows XP instead of my beloved Windows 2000.

What I hated was instead of fixing everything over the whole three-day weekend and making sure eveything's ready come work day, the two opted for "installment installation".

When I booted it and I found out I couldn't log in, it was only then that they created an account for me in their database. When I complained that there were no other softwares in it, it was only then that they installed Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office. (They even had to reinstall the latter because .the first one was for 2000.)

After everything, I tried to calm down and start on my work. I opened my documents in an obscure folder they created and named "Data", and found out these are all write-protected. Apparently, I wasn't an administrator of my own PC. Hence, another long walk to the tech area to do some bugging.

Now, my PC is crawling. Imagine trying to run Windows XP in the old outdated IBM Pentium III's with just 128MB's of memory. It takes half a minute to open Internet Explorer, sometimes more. When I open a Word document with the Excel running, I always keep my fingers crossed hoping it won't crash.

I didn't ask for an upgrade in my OS and I don't even dream of a new PC (I've been through that stage years ago and I decided to move on). What I asked was to take out the virus that infected my PC. That is all. Please bring back the glory of my old PC. Take out XP and give me back 2000.

I'm no Gloria fan, but just how will Fr. Robert Reyes measure the success of his hunger strike is anybody's guess. C'mon, I mean will he start eating as soon as Gloria steps down? Or when the rallies from all over the country die down? I know, I know! Maybe it's when there's world peace.

Whatever it may be, I'm sure of one thing - it's life as usual in his Project 4 parish. Since he got that post, he's almost always somewhere else that they're now used to not having a parish priest at all. He's always been running and running for causes (that are, at times, quite conflicting), while the good people of Project 4 are looking for a leader in their pastoral activities. Well, if there's anything good to this, at least these people learned to bond together and help themselves.

You should have made the jump. I know it's not much and that it merits a lot of work, but it is through these opportunities where they give you a chance to shine. And after a long time of waiting to finally move on and probably be what you should have been, you turn it down.

We all have to take risks sometimes for things to happen. We all have to muster up all our courage and jump into the abyss. It's scary, yes, but don't fail to see how exciting it is at the same time. You will make mistakes, but it is through these that you will learn new things and expand your horizons. Believe me, there's more to it then working day in and day out in your tangerine kingdom.

You have a lot of potential. Don't let it go to waste.

After a couple of years, I'm finally going to take a trip to Cartimar today. Hermie, Velo City's mechanic, managed to scout for me a 28-hole rim that can probably replace my busted Mavic Crossmax back rim. Whew! At least I won't have to spend a lot of money to replace my wheelset. Now I can put what's left in my savings for the new bike frame I've been dreamiing of.

After yesterday's circus, it's sad that the first thing that went to my mind is if the roads going to Cartimar are blocked.

I've was joking with some of the people in HR yesterday. I was saying that we better file for loans in SSS and Pag-Ibig before the government does a Titanic. At least we have some money when the Peso plunges to 70 to a US Dollar (or more).

I have my interview in the US Embassy for my Visa application next month. After yesterday, why do I feel that I just wasted the application fee?

Putang ina.
US Dollar trades at P56.10. There's just a temporary restraining order stopping the E-VAT from being implemented and making gas prices hit P34.00 to a liter.

Sad to admit it, but I couldn't care less in the country's current political turmoil. I'm just too damn tired - of the rallies, of the hearings, of the media circus. And I'm sure whatever the outcome is, I'm certain that we'll still end up being fucked anyway.

New Chapters
Truly the first of July marks a lot of new beginnings for us.

At the start of the second half of the year, no less than our website's editor-in-chief has decided to move on. After serving seven years in the company, she passed her resignation last Friday. She'll be staying with us until the end of the month for turnovers and other matters.

We'll definitely be looking for someone to take her place, and I pray this next person brings a fresher vision to the site and make it more than a glorified online mobile catalog that it is now.

After three years on broadcast, the start of this month officially marks the end for our channel in SkyCable. It was a good three-year run. We really had a blast, and I have my army of TXTjocks to thank for those sweet memories.

Now, we're waiting for our next chapter to begin. While the new line of TJ's are in hiatus mode, I've ordered a powerful machine to handle the boys' monster of a creation. It's really something special and I can't wait to show it to our community.
