Livestrong ain't that strong. Well, partly my fault. I was playing with it when it broke. I guess I would have to order again. This time I'll get two packs so I'll give them as Christmas gifts to the boys.

Quiet lang kayo't natutulog ang OJT! Hanep!

Sayang at 'di nila nakita ang "state of the art" rescue measures ng ating gobyerno.

I'm so sick of seeing the "page cannot be displayed" notice. I think I've had my quota for the day from trying to monitor the stats of my different services. Maybe today's not my day. I'll try again tomorrow.

Midweek Break
This feels like I'm back in college tuned to the AM radio waiting for the announcement from CHED. I'm talking about the work suspension today because of the heavy rains that raged on since early this morning and continued to this very minute, flooding the metro's major thoroughfares and putting traffic at a standstill.

Everyone's here in the house - me , my dad, my brother and Zagu. Even my sister and her husband are here! They had to leave their house because the water is already inside and it's almost knee deep. A little more rain and it will reach their bedroom.

Some people were already in the office when they made the announcement. Some of them are fortunate enough to live nearby. The others weren't so lucky.

I'm not planning on dilly dallying the whole day. I had Mira email me two documents so I could work at home. September is knocking at the door with two promos and I don't even have my mechanics and grids ready moreso a single DTI permit.

Kadayawan - Iwanan, Puyatan, Pinsan at Durian
Hello and welcome to the Kadayawan entry! Yup, yup! I'm back in Manila after a four-day trip to Davao for the festival. I don't want to get into details that much so here are the highlights of the trip:

1. Remember in my previous entry I wrote that I wasn't that excited going to Davao with someone I barely know and that I'd probably have more fun if I was alone? Well, my "wish" sort of came true.

I was running late going to the airport because of that damn traffic in Katipunan caused by the construction, but I did make it to the check in booth with a few minutes to spare before they closed it. I even thought I forgot my ticket at home with all the panicking. Thank God it was in my notebook.

What really surprised me was my partner wasn't able to make it to our 10:45 AM flight. She's only from Sampaloc and that's way closer than Marikina. Well, what she said when I called her was "Eh, 10:45 pa naman ang flight 'di ba?" Alright! I don't know if she's aware that she's supposed to be in the airport at least 45 minutes before the flight. Well, she managed to book one to Davao, but it's the last flight on Saturday at 5:00 PM. Yup, in the end it's just me again. Thank God I didn't make her bring the equipment or that would've been a big fuck up.

2. Another lesson learned from taking computers and setting it up remotely is no matter how many times you email for help on the PC's network settings, you'd still have to go through the process of setting it up remotely with the tech boys on the other end of the line.

For this trip, I've learned how to use ipconfig/all, ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew. That's cool for a non-techie guy like me. Not!

3. Just as expected, I would be in Davao but I watched the whole festivities on TV because of the chat. From chat you came and to chat you shall go back.

4. I met with Charo's cousins and they're cool - Louie, Anthony, Manolo, JJ, Ada, Apple and Faji. They took me around the city with the sole mission of making me bondat from the food and drunk with beer! We went to the Sugbaan at Apo View Hotel, Iron Horse, Paparazzi, Dusk till Dawn Chicken Place, Blugre and the Matina Town Square.

Of course, the experience wouldn't be complete without at least trying some durian! Louie, JJ and the others treated me to one and it's hard to refuse.

The verdict? It smelled like hell, but the taste is OK. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's heaven though. Hehehehe!

Till the next Kadayawan!

Greetings from the beautiful islands of Davao City! Hehehe! The job's over. I'm going to pack up soon. Remind to blog about dilang anghel, setting up networks, return to moderation, meeting Charo's cousins and the durian experience.

I'm packing my bag for tomorrow morning's flight to Davao for our split-screen set-up in the network's Kadayawan coverage.

It's weird that I'm not as excited as I was when we go on provincial trips. When I was bound for Iloilo and Bacolod, I barely had sleep the night before the trip. I was like a kid on the eve before going to the Yakult plant and attending Ariel Ureta's Patok na Patok.

It's different now. Probably because I'm with someone I barely know instead of the boys. If I were solo, I think it would be different.

Another reason is definitely the work that I have to leave hanging behind. There's a TV Patrol Baguio poll, the YSpeak split-screen set-up, the WWF nature's Harvest poll, the LBS projects, the Studio 23 promo, the Nginig VCD promo, the new Nginig services, the Wazzup split-screen set-up, the Knowledge Channel content update, stats monitoring, Water War price cuts, UAAP promo draw, and the PCTV channel reformat. Whew! And to think I might have missed out on a couple of items.

At any rate, my attitude is just plain and simple: bring it on.

Another Confession
Bless me, Blogger, for I haved sinned. My last confession was years ago. Honestly, I never thought that this would happen, but it did -- I tripped on an OJT again.

It happened this afternoon at around four. I was checking my emails and minding my own business when the tech boys' OJT approached me. Here's the script.

OJT: Sir, pasulat ho ng inyong full name at user name.

Me: Ha? Para saan 'yan?

(OJT pauses and thinks for a while)

OJT: Ahhh...

Me: Wala akong natanggap na email tungkol diyan. May memo ba 'yan?

OJT: Wala ho.

Me: Sino bang nagsabi niyan?

OJT: Si... Sino nga ba 'yun? Iyong nandoon po... Ah! Mamaya na nga lang kayo!

(OJT approaches my seatmate)

OJT: Sir, pasulat ho ng pangalan niyo at saka username.

John: Ha?! Ummm... para saan ba ito?

(OJT storms back to the tech room)

Here's a tip to you OJT's out there - make sure you know what your superiors asked you to do before you do them.

Will someone please take out Bajjie del Rosario from the Ateneo Basketball Team?! Sorry to Bajjie fans, but I think his court blunders are just too much. He confidently takes three point shots and almost always never makes them. To Coach Sandy, Gabby Severino, Chester Tiongson and the others in the coaching staff, I think it's time to give others in the team the break they deserve.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Oliver! For those who don't know, Mrs. Len Oliver is WRR 101.9's DJ Billie!

Mira's brother is bidding for the livestrong band that I gave her. Current bid is now at P500. Mira's answer: kahon. Hehehehehe!

Bought myself a pair of jogging pants from the Adidas sale here at ABS-CBN. Everything is at 50% off. Coolness.

Here's a bit of personal trivia: I haven't worn jogging pants since I was a kid.

I now wear yellow.
I got the parcel notice from the mail Friday night.
I picked it up this morning from the post office.
I opened the package and wore the bracelet.

Wala lang
Pagbati kay Rumelo Pedigan ng Japan. You're one of the avid viewers of this blog, and I dedicate this entry to you.

Damn US Postal Delivery Service. Now I know why you can't sponsor a fast cycling team.

Hoy Mark! Imbitado kayo sa kasal ko namin ha! Dapat nandito na kayo by May 7 next year.

Acheche!

Hanggang sa muli, mga friendsters! :D

Got bitten by the blog bug just when I was supposed to get ready for work.

Thank God the past three weeks are over. Those were really toxic. I had three text promos that require DTI approval that I almost bagged the office record for making the most trips to that office agency in a week. Marlon now knows me by face and we even had this small conversation about Mrs. Perez in Australia representing the agency. (I wonder what those Aussies would think now of Filipinos after that encounter). As for the learnings, I realized it pays to be early. I am there at seven in the morning. And in several instances, ealier than that. Yup, your body might kill you for sleep deprivation, but you're guaranteed you'll be serviced before lunchtime.

We'll be meeting with Balay Kandila later. We were supposed to meet with them yesterday but they had something at ABS.

I am so proud of myself for reaching the summit of the Antipolo climb. I didn't go hard at all. All the time I was telling myself to go easy, this being my first ride in months. I wasn't ashamed to use the granny gear and I think I was crawling at something around seven kilometers an hour. Hey! I got to the top! The whole trip, from the climb to going back to the house, took me a little over an hour. Not bad.
