As they say, all good things must come to an end. Our six-day tour of San Francisco is finally over and we'll be flying to Las Vegas today at around 1:00 in the afternoon.
Of all the three cities I've been to in this trip to the US, I love San Francisco the most. It's not flat and empty as the wastelands known as Las Vegas nor is it complex and chaotic as the concrete jungles of Los Angeles. San Francisco's so diverse, it has a mix of everything. I love the scenic freeways, the great food, the different neighborhoods, the history and it being a true melting pot of different cultures and people. No wonder Mark's transferring here.
We've never even considered living in the US when we arrived here, but after seeing and experiencing all of these, we're honestly giving it a second thought. And as our boss who moved here puts it, "because here everything works."

The coolest model that I saw so far is the Motorola Razr, which isn't that high end by Philippine cellphone unit standards. The rest are Samsung and Motorola clamshell units.
Texting isn't popular here. You can see almost everyone in the airport has a cellphone, but it's only us who text and play mobile games. Puro sila calls. At chaka ang mga ringtones.
Mula Las Vegas, nandito naman kami ngayon sa San Francisco. Nampucha! Hanep ang lamig! Can you believe na talung talo niya ang Baguio?!?! Gosh. We arrived yesterday afternoon at around two in the afternoon through America West airlines. Actually dapat mas maaga pa kundi nadelay.
We're living with Charo's relatives in this place called San Bruno. Tawag nila dito ay "The Gateway to Southeast Asia". Ang daming Pilipino kaming nakita during the whole trip - Los Angeles, Las Vegas at San Francisco - na parang hindi ka na umalis ng Pilipinas. At may Goldilocks pa!
We'll be staying here for the rest of the week and fly back to Las Vegas on Saturday. Today, we'll be meeting with Mykiss, Charo's friend from work. Tomorrow, it's going to be with my tita and my cousins who moved here in the 80's. Then, we'll probably meet with Ninong Enrique sometime Thursday or Friday. Kileg 'di ba?
It's 7:56 in the morning and Charo's still asleep. On the other hand, I'm up by around five. Must be having trouble adjusting to the different time zone.
As for the shopping update, I enjoyed shopping in Las Vegas premium outlet. Prices are really cheap. I got a cool pair of Nike Shox running shoes for around P3,000 and they're selling Oakley Juliets for only P8,500! They sell that for P16,000 in the Philippines! Imagine that!
That's it so far. I'l try to post again tomorrow morning, which is about 11:00 PM Philippine Time.
Cheers!

Greetings from the beautiful islands of the United States!
I'm having a hard time sleeping here. I slept at two in the morning, woke up at around five and I can't sleep since. Five days after, I'm still experiencing jet lag.
We're now in Las Vegas after four days in Los Angeles. In our brief stint, we went to Disneyland and Universal Studios. I got to try out most of the cool rides except for Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Terminator 3D and Van Helsing. Must Go rides in my list are Indiana Jones, Splash Mountain, The Mummy and Jurassic Park.

Secretary Story Number 74: The Parable of the Test Phone She is lucky. She was given a cellphone unit by her boss. This is his own but he gave it to her so that she has something to use for official business, whatever that may be. The ones before her had to be content with just office-issued prepaid cards and nothing more.
Despite this, she is not happy about it. The buttons of this unit were hard to press, and she even had the nerve to tell this to her boss.
She asked him if she could just use a test phone, and he agreed with the condition that she would let people use it for testing. With this, she went on her quest looking for the test phone her heart desires - the one with the soft buttons (and right features, of course).
She searched far and wide. Finally, she stumbled upon a Sony-Ericsson T610 unit being used for testing mobile games. Seeing that these people had a lot of test units with them and that one less wouldn't do any harm, she got the phone for her own under the guise of testing it for the Kapamilya SIM.
She had so much fun with her phone - texting people, talking to them for long periods of time (within office hours, perhaps?), storing their numbers, taking their pictures. Imagine using an office phone for personal use. You get the best of both worlds - a phone way better that what you have without the worries of maintaining it because it's not under your name and you have your personal one in case it dies down. It was heaven.
Or so she thought. For the real owner of the phone (the one whose neck is on the line in case it gets lost) realized that one of his units is missing and discovered that it was with her all along. Under the guise of testing, he took it and locked it in his desk never to be used for personal use again.
The poor soul tried to get it back. And she did. When he asked her purpose, she admitted that it was for personal use but said that she's willing to shell out in case it gets damaged. Convinced, he gave the unit to her.
The story doesn't end here. The owner soon found out about the mobile phone with the hard buttons given to her by her boss and took the T610 away for good.

After being rescheduled countless of times, Chai finally got her much needed 100,000-kilometer tune-up. They quenched her with four liters of fresh fully synthetic engine oil with a set of iridium spark plugs to boot. Now she's back in shape and ready for our daily hauls once again.
Chai just turned six years old this month. And after being so dependable all these years we're thinking of retiring her for the new 2006 Honda Civic, which they said will debut early next year if not late this year. Ain't her sexy?
