Picture Taking Extravaganza Aside from handling the Batangas Mountain Bikers, I am also the founder of one of the country's biggest online cycling community - The Philippine Cycling Network.
The picture on the right is me in one of trails in Maarat. It was taken by King in our short photoshoot ride last week. We had this posted in the PCN's front page as a way to promote the new PCN jersey and shorts. We said in the egroup that we would post their pictures in the website's front page wearing it.
The story behind this was a lot of people in the egroup wanted a new kit but no one wanted to handle the collection of payments and distribution. So what our friend, Clarence from Anatomic did was he still produced the jerseys and shorts and distributed it in bike shops. Now he's planning for a second run as the demand from Filipinos abroad gets bigger.
If you're interested in getting the new PCN kit, drop by Cristy's Bike Shop or The Bike Room in the Cartimar Shopping Plaza along Leveriza in Pasay City now!

This year's January has been the most hectic January in all of my seven working years. It was as if after the week-long December holidays, we go back to work at full speed. It's like flooring the gas in a drag race.
Now I'm not saying that it's not good. It is after all a drag race on getting more people into the system and selling them stuff that they might want. It's this year's pace that I'm adjusting to. And just to prevent myself from burning up, I already filed a leave from the 24th to the 27th of February for a Davao trip.
I have a lot of ideas that I want to do for my product this year. I just have to restrain myself a bit as my new tech guy learns the ropes.

After a long time of dreaming, I finally have new pedals for my bike. Bought online from Performance Bikes, I installed my new Crank Bros. Eggbeater pedals as soon as we got home.
Being one of the last parts from my original bike, I had a nostalgic moment removing the old Shimano M747 clipless pedals. Removing the cleats from the shoe took all the nostalgia away though. Being stuck there for probably four years, I had to take good care that the allen bolt heads won't loose thread. This took longer than taking out the pedals themselves.
When everything was installed, I finally sat on the saddle and clipped in. The pedals' float was more knee friendly than my old one. Compared to Shimano's 6 degree-float, the Eggbeaters have 15 degrees of play before you can disengage. Of course everything has to be tested in the trail.
Now I can't wait.

Snippets It's 2006 and I haven't blogged yet. So what I'll try to do is cram everything.
On the 2nd day after Christmas my true love gave to me a 60-Gig iPod Video. I remember they just launched this when we were in the States. Back then we stopped ourselves from getting it because one, we were buying a new laptop, and two, we justified to oursellves that it's for listening to music (a job which our old 4th Gen iPod handles quite nicely) and we'd probably won't be watching videos anyway. Oh how wrong we were. Now our new gadget has a number of episodes of Smallville, Lost and Alias along with podcasts of Happy Tree Friends and, of course, porn!
I went for a day-trip to Batangas during the holidays for an afternoon of mountain biking with some of friends there. Even though it rained when we were riding and I did a not-so-serious endo on a deep puddle-covered pothole, it was quite an experience for me. I should do this more often, I thought. It would be great if we still have a place here. I miss my cramped room in our gasoline station. If I have some money, it would be great to get a vacation house here.
I'm taking advantage of this doctor-recommended diet that I'm in. I'm now back to my active lifestyle again. I do a 3.5-kilometer run at night and mountain bike in the weekend. What's so great is I notice a lot significant improvements in my strength and recovery. I can do the lap without stopping and I can actually climb standing without being winded. This must the silver lining for not being able to eat anything in the feast they prepared in the Binan Christmas reunion.
Today is Morny's birthday and last night was his party at Querico's in Project 4. The bald black guy turned 30 and he decided to celebrate the "milestone." There were a lot of people in the party from almost every point of his life - his family, his barkada, his TD friends, Enta members, peers from the Filipino department and his church friends.
Joyce and Myles left early and so did Sanya. So it was only Vina, Rolex and I left to do the countdown. When it was over and we said we had to go, he gave us a long hug. He was crying. "Akalain niyo bang aabot tayo nang ganito," was what he said.
I know he was buzzed, but I have to admit that it got me thinking. Yeah, we never thought about these moments when we were in high school.
