For the first time in a long time, I did nothing else but sleep the whole day yesterday, and it was great. I got up to have lunch then watched a National Geographic documentary on Hillary's Return to Everest. After that, it was back to dreamland. I think it was around 4:30 in the afternoon when I truly got up to prepare for the 5:30 mass at Dela Strada. I should do this more often.
Today I woke up to the sound of rain. I checked my cellphone if there were any office announcements, and there were none. Can't blame me for pushing my luck. Then again, I have this feeling that if this pushes through, they'll be cancelling work midday again.

The Tour de France
Finally the Tour is over and Floyd Landis emerged as the next wearer of the yellow jersey after Armstrong's seven-year reign.
With the wake of Operacion Puerto, the Tour started without any clear favorite. Last year's top five in the overall classification weren't there. And so for the first time, the Tour is wide open for anyone willing to suffer and ride in the Champs Elysse with the yellow jersey.
We've been following the Tour almost everyday. Because of the lack of coverage, we were left to do our own night outs World Cup-style. We would go to a resto, order food and drinks there, and follow the live coverage via wap. Yes, you read that right - wap.
After a couple of bottomless chips downed with bottomless iced tea at Chilli's, Floyd Landis emerged as the winner of this year's tour. He got the jersey in the Alpe D' Huez only to lose it the following day and getting it back after an all-out breakaway effort in the final mountain stage and a third place in the last time trial. Add to that his "amazing" story of his degrading hip.
I'm glad that it's all over. After three weeks of intense racing that hasn't been seen in a long time, the memories of Operacion Puerto were all but forgotten. However, there is still no patron in the peloton. Landis didn't command that much respect that the likes of Merckx and Indurain has. I guess only time will tell if his colleagues will consider as that.
Vive Le Tour!

And it came true. Yes, we don't have classes work today because of the heavy rains. I now have an extra day to relax and do some personal chores.
I actually came from St. Luke's to consult the doctor on my coughing. Apparently, it was caused by my colds. So he gave me something for that and an anti-allergy medication as well. And just to make sure everything's clear, he wants me to have a chest x-ray to see if my lungs are OK.
With that finished, it's gimmick time. We watched Nacho Libre last night at Gateway and we're going to continue this movie marathon with Lady in the Water at 3:10 PM in Eastwood. I'm actually not expecting much from the movie. It's the going out and being able to watch that I miss.

I woke up today to the sound of hard rain hitting the roof. This is definitely not a good way to start your Sunday morning. Yesterday after washing my bike, I was thinking of putting some lubricant on the chain today then doing some laps for an hour in the Ateneo. With this I guess I have to plan again.

Rain, rain It's been raining quite heavily for a few days now. I'm looking outside from my office window and it's almost all white.
In the pantry, Bianca and I were singing "A Little Fall of Rain" from Les Miz. Before that I heard them play Apo's "Pumapatak Na Naman Ang Ulan", which was performed by Parokya ni Edgar.
It's a Thursday. I know this is evil but somehow I'm wishing for the weather to get worse so they would cancel work and let us go home early.

Hotel Veniz Rocks! If you're looking for a place to stay in the City of Pines, look no further. Situated in the heart of the country's summer capital is Hotel Veniz - a surprisingly excellent hotel with comfy rooms, ample parking spaces and a location to die for. Their rates are very competitive and comes with a free breakfast. A great value for lowlanders seeking the crisp mountain air.
We stayed here for two nights last weekend and it was one of the highlights of the trip. Their location was so amazing that if you go out of the lobby to the street, you're instantly in the middle of everything - Burnham Park, Session Road, Maharlika Center, The Baguio Market and the Wagwagan. We didn't even have to take Connie out of her hotel parking slot.
And if you're not yet sold, get this - Charo left her Treo's charger in the room and realized it was missing when we're in Tarlac already. I called the Hotel to check if it was there. When they found out that it was there, I asked if they could arrange to have it shipped to our house and I'll just pay for whatever the charges may be. To my surprise, when I called this morning to check on the status, I found out that they have already sent the charger to the house. And not only that, they said it's on the house! Now that's what I call customer service!
On our next visit to Baguio, we're definitely going to stay at Hotel Veniz!
